June 26 NYWSE Event: Can Writers be Social Entrepreneurs? Can Social Entrepreneurs be Activists?

In October, 2000, a book Amy and Jennifer co-wrote about the state of the women's movement, called Manifesta: Young Women, Feminism, and the Future , was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux. That book served as the platform for a national speaking tour which brought the two to literally dozens of community groups, countless bookstores, and more than 200 universities and high schools.  Their own speaking tour, and experiences with an agent, prompted the two to found Soapbox Inc. Social Entrepreneurship

Hi all! I've been invited to post something but don't have a brilliant idea this morning. As such I'll first say that I thought Pangea Day was a great success and applaud any/all of you who played a role in making it happen. If you are not familiar with the TED Prize which provided the seed capital to get the concept off the ground definitely check it out. TED is an amazing organization that brings some pretty interesting and influential people together to attack the world's most complicated problems.

I've got an EDImports blog where I've featured some of the TED talks and prize winners. I also recently put up a couple posts on getting out of a business that you've started but hasn't gone as planned. Maybe I should call it the good, the bad and the ugly! Would love to hear your comments.
